The history of this charming castle goes back to the Fresse de Monval family and to Admiral de Villeneuve, opponent of Nelson and unfortunate hero of Trafalgar. Jeanne Bonaparte, Napoleon's little niece, through her marriage to the Marquis Christian de Villeneuve became the beautiful daughter of the owners at the time. The castle is located on the edge of the village of Valensole, a typical Haute Provence village renowned for its lavender, not far from the famous Gorges du Verdon, Moustiers Sainte Marie and the swimming lakes.
