La Farigoule is a welcoming villa with spacious rooms and traditionally French furnishings throughout. Doors from the principal living area with beamed ceiling lead out onto a pretty pool terrace with shaded area for dining from where guests will undoubtedly enjoy the views across the valley, whilst dining al fresco. The villa is in a residential area only 350 metres walk ‘uphill’ to the village where you’ll find weekly markets selling Provençal delights to tempt your taste buds as well as boutiques, a boulangerie and a small range of restaurants and cafes to suit most palates. Goult has well-restored buildings that seem to grow up out of the living rock as they are built from the same natural stone. The narrow lanes have stone walls in places where the solid rock creates arched doorways and vaulted passages. This hilltop village has superb views towards the Luberon hills and Bonnieux area and is quintessentially Provençal! On your doorstep is the Luberon National Park for delightful views, forest walks and forest activities as well as day trips to beautiful medieval villages such as Bonnieux featured in Peter Mayle’s book ‘A Year in Provence’, Lacoste, Ménerbes and Lourmarin. Gordes (10km) is also worth a trip, clinging to the edge of a spur of Mont Ventoux, it boasts sandstone houses tumbling down narrow cobbled streets and a selection of markets and boutiques. From here, try an exhilarating drive to the 12th century Cistercian Abbaye de Sénanque and its lavender fields – the monks still produce the herb-flavoured liqueur Sénancole! Antiquities and markets are abundant and infamousin L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (20km) and the closest larger towns are Cavaillon, (20km), Apt (15km) and Avignon (40km) with its famous bridge and Palais des Papes. Golf enthusiasts can play at the Provence country club in Saumane, (22km) and horse riding can be arranged via the tourist office nearby.
